What are Self-Paced Online Courses?

Self-Paced Online Courses (SPOC) are available in blocks throughout each semester that begin approximately every two weeks. Courses have no assignment-specific due dates, instead requiring all course assignments to be submitted by the course end date. You receive the same high-quality learning experience found in all UCO online, but with a more self-directed approach to learning that matches your needs. SPOC qualifies for most types of financial aid.

In self-paced online courses, you work independently at your own pace. You will use Desire2Learn (D2L), UCO’s online learning software as your course hub where you may submit assignments, check grades, and communicate with your professor. A UCO faculty member is available to answer your questions in a timely manner and students may request an early grade for SPOC if a course is completed before the deadline.

When enrolling, a course is indicated as SPOC in UCONNECT by the “SPO” campus code. For more information about self-paced online courses, visit the self-paced online course website.
